| Doing Business with US - Service Contracts |
The procedure for the award of a Service Contract is as follows:-

|
-
Interested companies are required to obtain and complete a Service Contract Pre-Qualification Questionnaire aimed at identifying the kind of service offered as well as ownership and management details. This questionnaire may be obtained from the Contracts Administration Office at each KCM mine and once completed, should be submitted to:-
The Manager Supply
Konkola Copper Mine plc
Central Supply
Private Bag KCM (c) 2000
Chingola
-
KCM will evaluate the questionnaire and categorise each company into main and secondary business activities.
-
KCM's Quality Assurance Team will then visit the company to inspect it's facilities and equipment and carry out such other verification as they deem appropriate.
-
If approved, the company will be invited to register with KCM for specific services recommended by the Quality Assurance Team. (if not approved, KCM's Quality Assurance Team may advise a company how to improve in order to qualify for registration).
|
-
Once registered, the company will be included on the Tender Enquiry List of each KCM mine.
-
Registered companies must regularly check the Tender Notice Board at each KCM mine, for forthcoming tender enquiries in its listed category.
-
Sealed tender submissions must be posted or hand-delivered to the relevant Tender Box at each KCM mine.
-
Each submitted tender will be adjudicated by the KCM Tender Committee which sits every two weeks.
-
Successful bidders will be notified in writing to the company's registered address and a “Commencement to Work” certificate will be awarded to the company concerned, together with a ‘Form of Agreement' issued by relevant mine.
-
Unsuccessful bidders will be advised.
Notes:
All service contractors' personnel will be required to undergo the KCM induction programme which is free of charge, and which is designed to familiarize contractors with KCM's safety policy and procedures including contractor's responsibilities in the prevention of accident.
-
All contractors are required to follow KCM's Personnel Protection Equipment (PPE) procedures.
-
All contractors will be held responsible for accidents involving their own personnel.
