Nampundwe Mine

Nampundwe mine  produces pyrite and  is located 48 kilometers west of Lusaka . Pyrite is used in copper smelting and roast leach electro wining. The mine began operating in 1913 when it was known as King Edward mine. 

Mining
The mining method at Nampundwe Mine is sub level open stop (SLOS), applied to the Nos 1, 2, 3 and 4 orebodies, where the stopes have strike lengths of 30 metres, being mined for 20 metres and 10 metres is left as rib pillars.

Concentrator
Pyrite Ore is processed at the Nampundwe concentrator
The pyrite concentrate is transported to the smelter and roast leach electro wining plants on the Copperbelt.
